Tom is a public health trained social worker whose commitment to Cultural Flexibility has been shared with thousands of medical practitioners, executives, alcohol and other drug, mental health and welfare workers, academics, researchers and administrators, as well as student dentists, teachers and pharmacists.
Tom was born in Kenya to Anglo-Celtic and Ugandan parents and has lived in Australia since boyhood. He completed studies in First Nations Health at the University of Queensland, where he has since worked in a number of research and teaching roles.
Tom has also worked in diverse human service roles across service planning, capacity building and evaluation, community health research and workforce consultation. In addition, he has deep experience of mental health and alcohol and other drug service delivery for young people and adults. This breadth of experience enables Tom to engage workers of all levels and skills in reflexive, solution focused dialogue that builds their ability to meet the challenges of service delivery in multicultural settings.
Tom has published original cross cultural AOD research and brings Cultural Flexibility to your workforce with the skills of an experienced and gifted teacher, researcher and group facilitator.
